SSAB Boron steel – optimized steel for quench hardening

Since Swedish company Olofsfors brought the production of its ECO-Tracks for forestry machines in-house, it has secured an optimized production process with less material waste and improved sustainability. The side supports on the tracks are made from SSAB Boron steel.

We recommend a water-polymer quenchant in the normal quenching of SSAB M53 steel. In addition, low-temperature tempering means SSAB M53 can reach exceptionally high hardness and impact strength values. We do not recommend ordinary water for normal quenching. In the event of press hardening, please contact your local SSAB technical development team for specific recommendations.
